A Seminar with Dr. Gigliotti – Various topics @ Faith Lutheran Church

Topics to be covered include:

** 1. Equipment Hazards: In this section we will talk about the inherent risks of commonly used equipment. We will learn about the amount and types of forces exerted on a dogs body as a result of jumping, landing, turning, going up steps or going up a ramp. Most importantly we will discuss what we can do in our training to help lessen the destructive forces that affect the joints and muscles.

** 2. What is Stress: We will journey to better understand how our animals perceive their world. What do they perceive as stress or stressors? What signs do they display when exposed to stress? How does stress change the brains ability to form memories or recall memories? We will also explore the potential benefits of stress.

** 3. Why Can’t I Hear you?: What does a dog do with the air that he or she breathes into their nose? How and why is their smelling process so different than ours? How can we use this to improve the dog’s body and mind?
